A solid silver "Kirdan" Necklace from upper Egypt. The Kirdan, this type of necklace, was an essential part of a bride's dowry.A Kirdan always has a large crescent as the centerpeice. The chain is made of ball shaped bells. The silver coin at the center is Maria Theresa and dated 1780. It is usual for Bedouinsto use foreign coins in their jewelry.
