Kirdan Necklace
A solid silver "Kirdan" Necklace from upper Egypt. The Kirdan, this type of necklace, was an essential part of a bride's dowry. A Kirdan always has a large crescent as the centerpeice. The chain is made of pear shaped discs. The crescent is adorned with an inlaid turquoise bead. It is usual for Bedouins to use foreign coins in their jewelry.
