What if I want another item like one you already have
Most items we exhibit are antique or vintage and are hand crafted and almost all are one of a kind unique items.
The Ancient Egyptian items are
of course contemporary but they are still handmade. If you require similar item as one that's been sold or still available, just
send us an email stating the item number you would wish to have one like and we will respond informing you of the possibility of doing so. This
is really a case by case issue.
What if I want a matching item, like a bracelet for a necklace for example
As mentioned before, most items are unique (see What if I want another item like one you already have) but upon your
request we will try to find an item as closely matching as possible.
Why can't I specify a quantity of more than one when ordering
For the reasons stated above, in most cases only one item exists.
Where do you get your merchandise
All our items are purchased in Egypt. Mostly from antique dealers. Some items like, silver beads and pendants may come from
other eastern nomadic and non-nomadic cultures in India, Persia, Turkey and Afghanistan. Other items may be contemporary, like the
pharaonic styles, but all are purchased here in Egypt. However, for the most part, items are arabic/bedouin.
Some items aren't stamped. Are they still silver
Yes they are silver, solid sliver. All our items are solid silver with a silver content between 60% and 90%.
There are simple tests you can perform to ensure the items are silver, and find out the percentage of silver, too.
There are many reasons why some items aren't stamped. The reasons are:
- Antiquity, some items are too old and were made before most people stamped their items in Egypt.
- Some necklaces are re-threaded from beads of other items hence the Stamp is lost.
- Stamping is expensive and would add a lot to the price of the items so they are left unstamped.
- Bedouins never stamped their items; jewelers who bought their items sometimes had them stamped later, this explains why an old piece can havea later stamp date.
I have a question you havent addressed here. How do I ask you my question
You can ask any question you like. Simply click here to send us an email asking us whatever you like.
How are items wrapped
All items come in the traditional Khan El Khalili velvet pouch.
(Khan Khalili is an ancient arabic bazar in Cairo that still exists today. It was built in 1382).
